SAC resins are primarily used for water softening and demineralization purposes.
Water softening is a treatment method that uses ion exchange resins to reduce the levels of calcium and magnesium ions. During this process, cations are exchanged for sodium ions (Na+). These alkaline earth metals can lead to scaling and solubility issues by forming calcium and magnesium carbonate deposits in equipment such as low-pressure boilers.
In demineralization, SAC resins remove all cations, such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron, and other heavy metals, from the feed water. In this case, the cations are replaced with hydrogen ions (H+).
PersaLite™ IXC150 Na Ion Exchange Resin is a Gaussian, gel-type, strong acid cation exchange resin designed for water softening and demineralization applications. It is made from a styrene-divinylbenzene (DVB) resin and features a sulfonic acid functional group.
PersaLite™ UPS1500 Na Ion Exchange Resin is a gel-based, strong acid cation exchange resin with a uniform particle size. This high-performance cationic resin reduces operational costs during regeneration cycles involving acids and extends service cycle times.
We also provide various other strong acid cation (SAC) resins. Please contact us for information regarding specific applications.
